Ummed and arred about whether to go out as had done the round Sheppey race in a dinghy the day before and it didnt look that windy on the web cam. When it started averaging mid-teens on the webcam decided it was worth the drive. Arrived to about 20mph with the guys out on 7m being overpowered, rigged my 6.2m but wind was dieing. Had a planing run out to the wreck but not enough wind to plane on the way back in, at the same time I realised the tide was sluicing out (despite it only being half an hour after HW) which was taking me downwind, ended up on the beach about a mile downwind and spent the next 45 mins short taking back to the car!
Lessons learnt, dont umm and arr just go down there sooner, remember the tide picks up real quick there.
